Physician Collaborative Arrangement
West Suburban Midwife Associates has a collaborative practice agreement with Dr. James Gomez. He is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist on staff at West Suburban Medical Center (Resurrection) and Gottlieb Hospital (Loyola Medical Center). In the event That Dr. Gomez is on vacation or not available, we also have a collaborative agreement with Dr. Moselle Brotman (WestLake Hospital and West Suburban Hospital)
Dr. Gomez and Dr. Brotman provide physician coverage and are available to the nurse-midwives of WSMA 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the unlikely event a pregnancy becomes complicated or a cesarean section is needed.
Every patient of West Suburban Midwife Associates will meet Dr. Gomez as our primary collaborative physician between 22-26 weeks gestation as an opportunity to meet him and to thank him for being our reliable and oh-so-very-patient back-up physician for the past 4 years! He will discuss common reasons and procedures for cesarean section and answer any questions. The fee for this single consultation visit is $150.00. It is a requirement of our practice that you meet Dr. Gomez during your pregnancy. Dr. Gomez will not bill your insurance, as he is not initiating care. It will be necessary for you to pay via cash, check or credit card at the time of your visit. This fee is NOT reimbursed by your insurance. This fee will retain his availability for all of YOUR emergencies or possible C-section (even on weekends, holidays and the middle of the night!). If you are an HMO patient, please discuss this fee arrangement with your midwife.
